Around us: nature and landscapes
Endless undulations of hills forming the typical Umbrian landscape: fertile hillocks dotted with ancient villages and country houses stretch out in the north-western part of the region and gently close the horizon of alluvial basins and of the large valley furrows: the Umbra Valley, the Tiber Valley, the basins of Gubbio, Terni and Gualdo Tadino, the Peglia Valley. It is the celebrated agricultural landscape of vines and olive trees, the tobacco plantations, the grows brightened by the yellow spots of sunflowers. Among the bright hills of Perugia embeds the clear and thin basin of Trasimeno Lake. A regional park protects the delicate hydrological and biological balances, extending the protection to the three islands emerging from the water and to the rolling hills that surround it.
